Sometimes you get caught in the drudgery of installing piston rings, and you just gotta put the thing together for two seconds to keep the end game in sight.

Yeah, I have to take it apart again to finish the last four pistons, but I needed the boost this sight gave me. Kinda bummed the seats are 'pulled in' for the 1969 302 heads, so I had to use a set of E7's I had on my other 302. I'll get the seats put in on the old heads later on down the road (the shop wanted $480 for both, which is a bit much to stretch since I'm not making as much as I was last summer).

Note: Some of these parts aren't final (The Cobra valve covers for instance, fan spacer is missing, that harmonic balance is actually cracked, etc).

Any reason you went with a mechanical fan instead of an electric?

Simplify and add lightness?

I had this flex blade one laying around from a past scrapyard run, and it just bolts up. Electric fans seem like one of those easier upgrades in the future, but I'd have to run and go get one, figure out how to install, and how it'll mount to my custom radiator support.

Running first, then improvement :)

Definitely simplicity. Lightness....debateable.

My rat has an electric fan and fuel pump I've been thinking about switching to a mechanical fan and I will be switching to a mechanical fuel pump.

I am never a fan of electric fuel pumps, always tough to diagnose when they fail. Good news is that those are relatively easy changes! Would you have to pull the motor to get at the fuel pump?

Nope. The electric pump was in a box in the bed and their is plenty of clearance around the engine. It bolts onto the opposite side of the block from yours.

Love the valve covers even though you said they are only temporary. Do you need headers with "clearancing" on them like that?
